Everybody is a Designer

I’ll make it really short because this is old and almost everyone has written something about this, but the truth it that keeps coming back!!!

Are you really a Designer?

Please understand this! The same way that knowing how to use a light switch doesn’t make you an Electrician and knowing how to flush the toilet doesn’t make you a Plumber. Prefer blue over green doesn’t make you a Designer.

You may have good taste, and know what you like when you see it. That doesn’t make you a Designer, but the person o made it, maybe he is a Designer or an artist or even something else.

You know that feeling of “I don’t know what it is, but I like it!”? It was a Designer that made you feel that way!

Please! The same way you don’t interfere with the Electrician that is fixing your home installation, and you believe that it will work and it will be safe! A Designer will help you by understanding what you what need and make sure that you get exactly what you need. Let him work, he will listen to your opinion and find the best workaround to that blue over green problem. But don’t make it an unsolvable problem. Some things work that way, for instance, red is for error and green for success, don’t ask a designer to do it in another way!

One more thing! That friend’s nephew, that is very good with computers and helped you install the latest pirated office version. He might not be the Designer you are looking for to design your new company logo! But I’m sure he is really good at his work!
